Opening in an era as there was a shift towards guitar based pop and indie music, The Borderline benefitted from the birth of alt-rock, grunge and Britpop, becoming an essential notch in the circuit. Not to be overtaken by those burgeoning scenes, the venue played host to some of the most famous names in country, folk and Americana and has continued to bring the future stars to the stage across all genres. Its famous lobby and historic feature staircase pay testament to the greats who have graced the venue. The Borderline is on Manette Street, off Charing Cross Road, just south of Tottenham Court Road tube station. Foyle's bookshop is on the corner.
